Five Days of Disney

We went to Disneyland the middle of February and had a fabulous time. We picked up Ryan's sister, Jill, in Provo and met his parents in California. We stayed for five days and went back and forth between Disneyland and California Adventures. Rece kept asking me what my favorite ride was. Too hard to choose, but definitely not the teacups. The teacups made me sick, but Megyn loved that ride. She loved everything. She would get off a ride and say, "That was awesome!" Rece is tall enough that he was able to ride everything. And he did over and over and over. Zach is a little more conservative. He didn't care for a lot of the rides. Especially the Tower of Terror. I think we may have scarred him forever.

Megyn was in princess heaven. She met Cinderelly (not a typo - this is how she says it) with Prince Charming, Belle & Ariel. She also got to meet Tinkerbell. We bought her this Cinderella dress and she has worn it every day since we got back.

The boys both got picked for Jedi Training. It was a dream come true for both of them. Zach got to fight Darth Vader and Rece fought Darth Maul. They received a diploma at the end of their training stating that they are now padawans. Zach has taken this very seriously and tells all of his friends that he is "Jedi trained". Such a funny boy.

This is at the lego store in Downtown Disney. Really fun place to visit. I thought it was amazing the things that had been built from legos. We didn't escape without buying several sets of legos.

Here we are on the huge Ferris Wheel. We went without Zach and Ryan. Ryan has a fear of heights and like I said earlier Zach wasn't crazy about a lot of the rides. The views from up there were fantastic. I would like to thank Jill for recovering enough to take the picture for me. She was scared silly to be there.

Toon Town. The little kids loved this. The rides here were more Zach's speed and there was a lot of fun photo opportunities.

This is while we were waiting in line for the Aladdin Show. We saw the show 1 1/2 times. The first time we went apparently the magic carpet malfunctioned, so they cancelled the show right in the middle of the performance. It was, however, totally worth the wait in line to see it again.

We decided to do a character dinner one night. We made reservations at Goofy's Kitchen. It was really expensive, the food was not great, but we did get to meet tons of characters.

These pictures don't even begin to show all the fun things we experienced. We are already planning our next trip back! We had so much fun and we enjoyed spending the time with Ryan's family!

A Little of This....

I love to blog, but I really have a hard time finding the time to do it. So after many months, here I am! Ta Da! Here is a few things we have been up to and not necessarily in this order.

Christmas 2010! We had so much fun! What's not to love about Christmas? Ryan and I determined that since we were going to Disneyland the day after Christmas that we should scale back a lot on the gift giving. That kind of back-fired on us when we decided about two days before to postpone our trip due to weather conditions. I don't think the kids even noticed. Megyn got the baby carriage and the Strawberry "Korcake" doll and car that she wanted. Little girls are so fun! Everything is pink!


This was the year of the Lego. Both boys wanted Legos. Rece wanted Star Wars Legos and Zach wanted Harry Potter Legos. Santa came through - nothing but smiles!

Megyn is my newest helper in the kitchen. Her favorite ingredient? Chocolate chips! She is so my daughter!

Of course, we have played in the snow. For some reason, the only child I have pictures of is Zach. Probably because he is always wanting to be out there.

Lastly, basketball. These pictures are from fall basketball. The pictures are horrible. For some reason, I cannot get a good picture in those school gyms. But Rece has had a ton of fun playing and I will probably have some more recent pictures soon.

Trick or Treat

Halloween was a week long event at our house this year. If my count is right, my kids dressed up five times. I was kind of relieved when it was officially over. Here are my cute little trick-or-treaters: Rece the nerd; Meg the butterfly; and Zach the Harry Potter. Not a scary one in the bunch!

Fall Soccer

We finished fall soccer today! This was the first year we played soccer in the fall-so much better than spring. The weather was perfect for pretty much the whole season. Both boys improved so much. Here's a picture of Zach with his coach/dad.

I just thought this picture was funny. Megyn's favorite thing to do during games was to practice her throw-ins and dribbling. I guess she has been paying attention.

This and That

Ryan and I had the fun opportunity to go to the BYU game with the boys last Saturday. It was so much fun, the game was good, and they won! We got to Provo early enough to do some shopping and have lunch before the game started. We drove home after the game and didn't get home until about 12:30 a.m. Totally worth it, but I'm still tired.

I wonder if Ryan was trying to stand out from the crowd. He didn't wear blue! We're going to have to fix that before the next game.

On a completely unrelated note....this crazy little sweetie is about 90% potty trained! Yay us! No more diapers! Woo Hoo! I'm so happy I could cry.

Random Wandering

Just some random pictures from our recent past. This is from Rece's first day of school. How bad is it that I am just now posting these? Rece is for the most part enjoying school this year. He's having kind of a hard time with his teacher, and truthfully, I am still waiting to be wowed by her. I feel bad for him, because up until now he has had such good experiences with his teachers. We keep encouraging him to find things that he likes about her, and this wonderful kid actually comes home and tells me things that he has found that he likes. How can we ask for more?

Here we are experimenting with the dual view on my camera. My kids love to have their pictures taken. Me...not so much.

Look how beautiful Rece's skin tone is. I think I look pale and chalky. Get some sun girl!

We have made a couple of trips to RediCare recently. Rece was bitten by a spider. His arm was really swollen from his elbow down to his fingertips. It was his right arm and he struggled for a few days trying to do homework because he could hardly bend his fingers. Antibiotics did the trick after a couple of days.

About a week later, we were back at the doctor having Meg's chin stitched up after she fell backward off of one of our kitchen chairs while eating lunch. We're still unsure of how she cut her chin, because she was lying on her back when I got to her. All I know is there was alot of blood. It took every ounce of my willpower not to pass out. I didn't...and I think that was a first for me. We got her to the doctor and it took four people to hold her down while the doctor stitched her up with three stitches. After the fact she was pretty proud of her wound and gladly showed it off to everyone she could.

These pics are more recent. We are still playing soccer. It has been so busy. Ryan is still coaching both boys. Zach's practices are Tuesday night, Rece's games are Wednesday night, Rece's practices are Thursday night, and Zach's games are on Saturday afternoon. Whew! I finally understand the term "soccer mom".

A Couple of Projects...

Over the summer I also completed a couple of projects. I can't usually use the words "completed" and "projects" in the same sentence, so I am kind of excited.

The first one I did was a CTR towel for Rece's baptism. I wanted him to have something from me, and this is what I came up with. I think it turned out really good (especially since I place myself in the non-sew category).

This is our family tree. My cousin, Deana, had the original inspiration for this, but it was separated into two frames. This idea was also used for a Super Saturday for Relief Society. I decided I wanted to make it larger and in a single frame, and again, I am really happy with the way it turned out.

My current project is a cross-stitch of the Idaho Falls Temple that Ryan's aunt & uncle gave to us as a wedding gift. They gave us the pattern and supplies, and I have literally been working on it off and on for ten years!

I have gotten a little behind on blogging due to a very busy summer. But now that school is back in session, I have a little more time during the day. Here are some pictures that I meant to post over the summer and just never got around to it.

Fishing with Uncle Garon. Rece and Zach both caught a couple of fish. We went to Mountain River Ranch. They have a little pond that they have stocked with fish. It rained on us a little bit, but was still a great time.

One of our most important memories was Rece's baptism. It was a great day and we appreciate all of our family who came to support him. We are so happy that Rece made the decision to be baptized. He is a wonderful boy who is a great example to his brother and sister. We love him so much.

Both of our boys played spring soccer. Ryan coached both boys for the first time. He really enjoyed it, and Rece & Zach love having their dad as a coach.

Zachary had his first year in t-ball; Rece had his first year in pitching machine. We spent a lot of time at the park in Iona. I loved it because not only did I get to watch the boys play, but I got to socialize a lot with the other moms.

The boys loved putting a sprinkler under the trampoline and playing in the water. Meg isn't a fan of getting wet, so that is why she is missing from these pictures.

More summer fun.

Zachary and Megyn celebrated their birthdays together this year.

Rece became a cub scout. He earned his bobcat quickly, and is now working on his wolf. He loves being a scout and has terrific leaders.

We went to the splash park. Once again, Meg doesn't like water, but she looked really cute in her hooded Dora towel.

Our last official summer activity was Lagoon. We had a great time. We met Jill in Provo and went school shopping one day and Lagoon the next. My kids are absolutely fearless when it comes to the rides. Rece talked me into going on the Wicked with him this year, and the only thing I can remember about it is losing my sunglasses at the very beginning. I will have to try it again next year.

We had a terrific summer!
